FABULOUS LAS VEGAS

Bangles, Doobies roll in for New Year's Eve

Organizers for the Fremont Street Experience New Year’s Eve celebration are partying like it’s 1989.

And even 1979.

Booked to perform under the LED canopy on New Year’s Eve are the Bangles and the Doobie Brothers. Tickets for throwback blowout are on sale for $60 per person, the highest price ever for a New Year’s Eve show downtown but a reasonable sum considering the popularity of the respective bands. And, attendees must be 18 years of age, as this Fremont Street Experience is not a true family experience. Tickets and can be purchased by calling 877.834.2748 or at ticketmaster.com. Information is at vegasexperience.com (but who needs more information than Bangles-Doobies-$60?).

No schedule has been set yet, but the bands will perform at different times on the 3rd Street stage. Local bands will be added to the bill and, in an unrelated attraction, the Riders of the Thunderdome (a pair of motorcycles whizzing around a round, steel cage) will perform. And, of course, Viva Vision will continue its hourly video productions on the overhead canopy.

Gates will open at 6:30 p.m., and guests can access the street celebration at three gates set up along Fremont Street at Casino Center Boulevard, Fourth Street and Main Street. Parking is available at the Fremont Street Experience parking garage on the corner of Fourth and Carson streets. Check your doobies at the door.
