COMING TO TOWN: The Pietasters

Julie Seabaugh

Influenced by alcohol as much as reggae, this 17-year-old eight-piece settles on the more mellow, droney end of the ska spectrum. Though vocalist Stephen Jackson occasionally veers into souled-out Joe Cocker territory on the ’Tasters’ brand-new fifth release, rhythm remains king overall.

At the International Ska Circus with The English Beat, The Slackers, The Toasters, Mustard Plug, Buck-O-Nine, Sektacore, MU330, Westbound Train, Hub City Stompers, Deals Gone Bad, One Pin Short. September 8, 11 a.m., $20-$25. Clark County Amphitheatre, 455-8200.
