For the most part, Jemina Pearl & Co. still come across like a far brattier, less sexual version of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. But while the subject matter hasn’t much evolved since their 2006 self-titled debut (topics include partying, boys, watching TV, partying, food fights and partying), the inventiveness of their flailing garage-punk riffs has caught up with their frenetic time signatures. Sure, the energy level’s impressive, but the sugar headache sets in long before the half-hour running time is up. –Julie Seabaugh
