Privé thinks Pink—a Weekly exclusive

In association with Chris Mancini, son of late, legendary composer Henry Mancini (“Moon River,” “The Pink Panther Theme”), Privé will bring to the Living Room Lounge on Saturday, May 17, all that is swank and … well, pink.

Keeping his father’s music and legacy alive, the younger Mancini has created a remix CD, The Pink Panther Lounge. Going one step further, he will bring the Pink Panther Lounge to life with tickled pink lighting, flirty pink costumes, pink specialty cocktails and, he says, some pink surprises while DJs spin the Pink Panther remixes. “I’m still not sure if the Pink Panther himself will show up,” says Mancini, drawing out the tease. “It could happen …” Also in the crowd for that night’s festivities will be Henry Mancini’s widow—and Chris’ mother—Virginia “Ginny” Mancini, and other close family members.

“The Pink Panther, it’s got such a special party vibe to it. We’re not going to beat people over the head with it. We just want to create as egoless a place as possible, where it’s comfortable to misbehave.”

“Chris has a great vision that mirrors our philosophy,” says Frank Tucker, Privé managing director. But as we all know, one-off parties are often a way of testing the waters for future events. On that subject, Tucker says Privé is open to the possibility of a return of the Pink Panther: “The door is always open to bring the lounge back as a recurring event.”

Mancini, too, is game to see the Lounge re-emerge, possibly even permanently. He has long desired to see a Pink Panther Lounge in Vegas, as well as beyond. “I want to put this entirely around the world—Hong Kong, the QE2 [Cunard Line’s RMS Queen Elizabeth II], some real hot spots. We’ll see how far we can go with it. This is our shakedown cruise for the Pink Panther Lounge. What follows, follows!”

Classing up hump day

She’s already mastered the art of the weekend. But sexy veteran promoter Tiffany Masters is coming out of retirement and has now set her sights on a midweek party.

“Very classy, very sexy,” says Masters of her Vanity Wednesday, slated to be bestowed upon a “preferred” list of locals on Wednesday, May 14. The post-prime-time, late-night party will kick-off at 1 a.m. weekly in the Chandelier Room at CatHouse Loungerie with a house-music format, bringing back those old-school party vibes of yore in conjunction with the club’s team.

CatHouse will play host to the festivities each week, Masters says, because “their staff is amazing; they have the best staff in Vegas.” Expect an exclusive crowd of familiar faces and more behind-the-scenes players, the sort Masters remembers from parties like the Dragon afterhours at Mandalay Bay’s China Grill. “The whole vibe was that you knew who you were going to see week after week.”

Inspired by the Chandelier Room’s voyeuristic makeup table, where the CatHouse Coquettes primp nightly, much to the delight of diners and the late-night party crowd, Vanity will enjoy support from VIP hosting company Cabana Candy and an assortment of local modeling agencies.

Plus, with neighboring LAX and the Excalibur’s Thunder From Down Under going off nearby, Vanity should have a healthy dose of girl power and will feature a rotation of house DJs, weekly events like Masters’ annual Socialite Party and sponsorships from Eminence Luxury Services and 702-Ageless. “You know you’ll see celebrities, you know you’ll see beautiful women,” and moreover, “lots of gifts, lots of fun and lots of love.” To RSVP or book tables now, call CatHouse at 262-4228.

It’ll be a hoot!

If in the days leading up to Memorial Day weekend, you find yourself driving from California to Las Vegas and you see an orange-spotted cow on the side of the road, trying to hitch a ride, don’t panic. You’re not hallucinating a sunburned cow, but rather you’re witnessing a Hooters-style cattle drive and one of 10 bovine-dressed people from the Los Angeles area bound for the grand opening of Dixie’s Dam Country Bar at Hooters Casino Hotel in Las Vegas.

The herd is set to arrive at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 23, uddering—or rather, ushering in the grand opening celebration of Dixie’s Double D. The cows who make the distance (up to 303 miles) without turning into burger will be greeted by Michelle Nunes (Miss Hooters International 2006) and members of the Rack Pack, who will be autographing calendars, photos and copies of Playboy’s February 2008 issue, featuring the Rack Pack. Insert your own “Got Milk?” joke here.

The party will culminate on Saturday, May 24 with a performance by country music artist Joe Diffie. Advance tickets to the concert are available only by calling 800-726-7366.
