Snap, crackle and pop

The natural science of real, raw Rush

YouTube is jam-packed with self-made music videos, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find any as hypnotic as those posted by user h6ksa1 (youtube.com/user/h6ksa1), In particular, seek out his 33 contributions for Canadian power trio Rush. Each lovingly presented clip opens with a close-up of the original vinyl LP, which soon begins spinning on an olden turntable … and spinning … and spinning, until the entire song has coursed through your speakers.

Sounds kinda dull, right? Trust us, somehow it isn’t. Not even close. We could seriously sit here all night watching Caress of Steel rotate and listening to the non-digitally remastered version of “The Necromancer.” If we didn’t have a show to catch, that is. –Spencer Patterson

Rush. May 10, 8 p.m., $57-$127. Mandalay Bay Events Center, 632-7580.
