The Weekly likes awesome, kick-ass chicks. The Weekly likes music. And, of course, the Weekly likes free booze. So, we put three of our favorite things together for a party/DJ competition June 25 at Tao Beach.
Reaching out to some of the most talented she-jays you may have seen in Vegas, this isn’t just a T&A-behind-the-tables, let’s-get-chicks-in-bikinis-on-a-preplanned-playlist kind of contest. All of the Tao Beats’ competitors are pleasing to the eyes, but their sets should be pleasing to the ears with a variety of genres being represented.
Talented turntabilist Tina T is slated to spin in the contest, as well as Lady Sha, the first female to win the Miami Winter Music Conference International DJ Spin-off. We also have Sarah Fab bringing house and electro, plus Tatiana, who’s a chameleon behind the decks and is versatile enough to play whatever she pleases depending on the night/venue. And last, but not least, Madam Filth is representing with drum-and-bass, breaks, electro or anything else strong enough to send sound through your soul.
While judges Tony Cordasco from Red Bull, Tao’s Omar Galeano and yours truly have some say in who will take home the $2,000 cash prize and earn a residency at a Tao Group venue, it’s up to you, the fans and clubbers, to slather on the sunscreen and cheer on your favorite DJ for crowd-support points. We’re also offering free booze to fuel the frenzy as all guests of the Las Vegas Weekly score a wristband for an open well-drink bar from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (or until you lushes drink it all).
So what are you waiting for? Resurrect your arts-and-crafts skills to make shirts and signs for your favorite lady, and meet us at Tao Beach next Friday. But don’t forget to RSVP first at www.lasvegasweekly.com/taobeats, or no booze for you. See ya there!
Update, 6/23/10, 4:30 p.m.: Miss Dust has just been added to our list of lovely competitors in the Tao Beats contest. One more reason to join us on Friday!
Update, 6/24/10, 11:45 a.m.: DJ Supra has also joined the lineup of she-jays competing! This is going to be one epic battle of talent behind the tables.
