Moby to DJ at Hakkasan over Labor Day Weekend

Local concert venues won’t be able to cajole Moby to deviate from his one-city-only “world” tour rule, but one Las Vegas club has talked him into a DJ set.

Hakkasan announced today that the veteran electronic musician will spin at the new MGM Grand club/restaurant Sunday, September 1, its lone non-regular headliner booking for the five-day Labor Day weekend lineup. Advance tickets ($30 for women, $50 for men) are already on sale.

Moby had initially announced three exclusive live performances in his home city of Los Angeles, in conjunction with the October 1 release of his 11th album, the guest-heavy Innocents. However, a smattering of DJ gigs will complement the band performances; the Las Vegas date is one of two in the U.S. His DJ sets at Coachella in April were a highlight of the Southern California’s dance-oriented Sahara Tent.

Moby last came to town in 2009, with a live show at House of Blues, and has played here several times before despite the city's apparent weaknesses. We leave it to Hakkasan and our Labor Day revelers to give him a more positive impression of Las Vegas.
