After reopening on New Year’s Eve, Body English at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino has been throwing star-studded weekends filled with the who’s who of the bass, indie, progressive electronic and hip-hop music scenes. And nothing goes with a bassline like a delicious libation. We give you the Pink Chandelier ($14).
If the hue and glass-shape of this cocktail by Diageo Brand Ambassador Dave Herlong reminds you of Body English’s iconic chandelier, it’s not by accident. “Think red wine and steak. I’m pairing the cocktail to the atmosphere.”
Herlong explains the challenges of mixology in a club environment. “There’s a really fine line for what you can do. Any fresh ingredient out. Herbs out. You have to use what’s already in the well. Mix it up into something different that’s quick and easy for the bartenders to service to thousands of guests.” If thousands of guests order the Pink Chandelier, they’ll get a drink that’s not only pretty to look at but also floral with hints of raspberry and refreshing citrus.
