Honey Salt mixologist Dori Hughley was born in Canada in the fall. If you ask her about the season, her eyes light up like the Fourth of July. She simply loves everything about it, especially the crisp, cool air.
Hughley has captured the feeling of fall, from crunchy amber leaves to heartwarming festivity, in the confines of a cocktail glass with her newest libation, the Autumn Crisp Cocktail ($12).
Evan Williams Single Barrel anchors the cocktail, with Licor 43 and Amaro Nonino adding complexity to the bourbon’s oak and caramel notes. Cider and pumpkin butter are classic seasonal sensations, and each sip off the bruléed sugar rim adds just the right amount of smoky. Autumn—crisp and delicious.
1 ½ oz. Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage Bourbon
½ oz. Amaro Nonino
½ oz. Licor 43
1 oz. apple cider
1 tbsp. pumpkin butter
apple slice (garnish)
Method: Rim glass with sugar. k Brulée the sugared rim. k Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. k Shake and strain. Garnish with apple slice.
