Oprah’s O Face: Velveteen Rabbit’s cheeky take on dirty chai highlights its fall menu

Any Starbucks regular knows when you add a shot of espresso to an Oprah chai tea latte, it’s not just a dirty chai—it’s a Dirty Oprah. That inspired Velveteen Rabbit to partner with O Face Doughnuts for a chai-inspired cocktail cheekily dubbed Oprah’s O Face.

Elliott Demlow, the Velveteen bartender behind the big O, swapped out Starbucks’ tea and espresso for house-made chai syrup and O Face Doughnuts’ cold-brewed coffee concentrate from Seattle’s Caffe Vita. The cold brew is deliciously strong on its own, so imagine what it does to your taste buds with nutty hemp milk, fiery bourbon, pillowy egg white foam and a dash of bitters. To top it off, it’s served in a coffee cup and saucer with an O Face doughnut hole, making the $10 price tag easier to stomach—even if the name isn’t.

Velveteen debuted the dessert cocktail recently along with its fall drink menu, which includes the Relámpago (mezcal, Aperol, lime and habanero chili syrup) and Godspeed & Silver Linings (vodka, lemon, plum syrup, vanilla liqueur, honey-chamomile bitters). Still, nothing is as decadent as Velveteen’s version of the dirty chai. And if Oprah can indulge in a little “me” time, surely you can, too.
