A Golden benefit’s silver anniversary For a show to last 25 years on the Vegas Strip is almost unheard of, save for rhinestone and feather classics like Don Arden’s Jubilee! But this Sunday another long-running local show will celebrate its silver anniversary—Ribbon of Life, presented by HIV/AIDS nonprofit Golden Rainbow. The grab bag benefit, which features performances from Human Nature, George Wallace and cast members from The Lion King, O, Jubilee! and more, was created by Vegas entertainers in 1987 after some fellow performers were diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. And Ribbon of Life is more than just a good cause; it’s a good time. The performers get to stretch their creative legs with original production numbers that break out from the twice-nightly routine, and the audience sees familiar faces in unfamiliar costumes and poses. Plus, knowing your ticket dollars go to providing housing and financial assistance to men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS ain’t so bad, either.
