The Killers will help kick off the inaugural season of NFL football in Las Vegas with a pre-recorded performance airing at halftime of the Raiders’ home opener at Allegiant Stadium, the Monday Night Football broadcast airing on ESPN and ABC at 5:15 p.m. September 21.

“The Raiders really wanted to pay homage to our new hometown, so naturally we were ecstatic to partner with an iconic Las Vegas band like The Killers on this once-in-a-lifetime performance,” Las Vegas Raiders President Marc Badain said in a press statement. “While fans can’t be with us in person, we hope this exciting halftime show gives those at home a taste of the exceptional entertainment experience awaiting them at future games and events at Allegiant Stadium.”

The performance was recorded from the rooftop Nobu Villa at Caesars Palace’s Nobu Hotel, according to Billboard. The Killers, the Vegas-born band that released sixth studio album Imploding the Mirage on August 21, performed in front of Caesars Palace in the summer of 2017 for an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live and famously opened T-Mobile Arena, the other blockbuster sports entertainment venue of the current Vegas era, in 2016.

Badain told Billboard this initial performance is an indicator of what the team and the stadium are planning to do at all upcoming home games.

“We want these games to be a really big deal. This is the sports and entertainment capital of the world," he said. "We have to blend those two elements, and every game has to match up to what is expected. The NFL in Las Vegas is a spectacle, an incredible experience for both attendees and 15 million-plus people every week around the country who are going to watch the game on TV. This market is being heavily impacted by [the pandemic], so if we can keep the Vegas entertainment scene top of mind and embrace those who have made this town what it is, then that's what we'll do."
