If every picture tells a story, what kinds of stories will images from the pandemic eventually tell? Be it stories of isolation, loneliness, perseverance or hope, local photographer Chris Mounts is hoping to document such experiences with his latest pop-up photography event, I Miss Everyone.

“It’s talking to people about, what is it that you miss and why?” Mounts says, who also runs his own rental photo company, Photobooth X. The photographer and former musician’s first I Miss Everyone pop-up debuted in Santa Monica, California, where he turned his heartfelt captures into a tangible zine.

While the free event is meant to get people talking and communicating with one another, not all questions are easy to answer.

“Does [the pandemic] make you miss people you shouldn't?” Mounts retorts. “It’s just getting down to that in a safe space and being able to have those conversations. I was thrilled, but it also felt incredibly heavy, letting these people tell me exactly what's going on. Everybody’s going through a lot.”

Mounts hopes to turn I Miss Everyone into an ongoing series, with zines from previous sessions for sale at each pop-up. For his Las Vegas pop-up, Mounts has partnered with Bleu Moon Bakery, which will also be serving a special themed cocktail to go along with the event’s theme.

The pop-up kicks off Friday, September 25, and runs through Sunday, September 27. Individual shoots will take roughly 40 minutes, Mounts says, and RSVPs are mandatory for Saturday and Sunday.
