Wave In, the Black Mountain Institute-hosted art, literature and music festival formerly known as Believer Fest, returns to the Las Vegas Valley May 5 through 7 with an eclectic lineup and, for the first time, free programming aimed at children.
Scheduled to appear are New York Times columnist and bestselling author of Hunger, Roxane Gay; Alex Marzano-Lesnevich, whose award-winning book The Fact of a Body: A Murder and a Memoir is currently being developed by HBO; Vietnamese musician Mai Khoi, whose fearless and forthright music precipitated a government crackdown; and many more, spanning artistic disciplines from poetry to illustration to filmmaking.
The three-day festival promises to foster discussion of "the ripple effects of human impact on our shared climate, the rising tide of indigenous liberation, the displacement of those seeking refuge, the current pandemic and more," and how these topics connect to and influence each other, through the wide-open lens of the arts.
Tickets for Wave In go on sale March 21 at bmifestival.org.
