Life Is Beautiful’s ‘Odyssey’ turns the Town Lodge Motel into an art hive

Between LA’s Western Project artists, Northern California artists William T. Wiley and Eric Tillinghast and an assortment of emerging Las Vegas artists, art collector Patrick Duffy has arranged an unprecedented visual art program for the Life Is Beautiful Festival. The Odyssey is set to feature exhibits in 21 rooms of the Town Lodge Motel, beginning with works by a 6-year-old artist and UNLV and CSN students, along with those in the Clark County School District.

Among the lineup of emerging and established Las Vegas artists and those who have lived here are Wendy Kveck, Catherine Borg, Yasmina Chavez (who works for Greenspun Media Group), Adam Morey and Javier Sanchez. Gallery owners Marty Walsh of Trifecta Gallery and Shannon McMackin of Vast Space Projects will participate. Also showing: work by artists at Opportunity Village’s highly successful Art Enrichment Program.

Duffy says he specifically designed the event to reach everyone attending the two-day festival by way of artists of different educational and skill levels. And if that’s somehow not enough, LIB’s art programming will also include a showing of Dean & Britta’s 13 Most Beautiful... Songs for Andy Warhol’s Screen Tests and murals painted by street artists from around the world.
