Fresh off an intergalactic tour on Star Trek: Discovery, deadpan comic Tig Notaro has joined the bill of the 2019 Believer Festival, returning to Las Vegas April 25-27.
The Grammy-nominated comic and writer will join what co-headliner and Transparent creator Jill Soloway is calling "a feminist tent revival": a night of comedy, music and literary readings to "explore the vanguard of feminism, trans-rights and justice" that will also feature Soloway's sister Faith, New America National Fellow and New Yorker journalist Masha Gessen, celebrated Seattle cabaret performer Dina Martina and more.
If you attended the Vegas premiere of The Moth, you might want to make this "Uproar at Ham Hall" a priority. And this closing-night event is just one of the ways that this year's Believer Fest, organized around the theme "La Frontera," will unpack the concept of borders.
Believer's four showcases—and a daylong fair at the Lucy, the new home of a soon-to-reopen Writer's Block Book Shop— combine unique literary, visual, musical and cultural talents (such as Reggie Watts, Kiese Laymon and Natalie Diaz) with unique venues (including the Mob Museum and Red Rock Canyon).
