Tough Mudder is an obstacle course series that recently held a race in the rugged desert hills near Lake Las Vegas. The event, which has registered over 1 million participants since launching in 2010, is a 10- to 12-mile untimed course filled with obstacles that rely on strength and teamwork. One obstacle that exemplified this was Everest, a mud-slicked quarter-pipe that racers had to reach the top of—however they could. While most were able to take a running start and use inertia to propel themselves up; others relied on the assistance of teammates to pull from the top or, in the case of this team, create a human ladder to reach the summit.
