As We See It

Is your neighborhood a trick-or-treating hot spot?

West is best for trick-or-treating in the Las Vegas Valley, according to Zillow, a real estate website that ranked the top 20 American cities for dressing up and demanding candy from strangers, as well as the top five neighborhoods within each city.

Las Vegas ranked 12th nationwide, losing to San Francisco (ranked No. 1 five years in a row) and neighbors LA (third place), Phoenix (fifth place) and San Diego (eighth place). Within the Valley, Zillow’s top neighborhoods for scoring candy are Sheep Mountain in Centennial Hills, the Lakes, Desert Shores, North Summerlin and Buffalo, an area fenced in by Charleston, Sahara, Durango and Decatur.

Zillow’s M.O.? Get in and get out safe. The website ranked cities based on median home value, housing density, crime rates and population age, a recipe meant to identify places where kids can safely get the most candy in the shortest amount of time … which is nice, but means nothing if the candy bars aren’t full-size.
