Morgan Freeman’s sad horse (and other important letters)

Only the comings months will tell whether these letters will be published, too, so keep your your head in the magazine rack and your eyes peeled…

Dear Gothic Beauty,

While I enjoyed the bulk of Jessie Seitz’s piece on Jessica Louise Clothing, I didn’t enjoy the story’s second sentence: “Let’s be honest though, your Siouxsie shirt is becoming quite faded and all black can get a little tedious.”

Oh, Jessie, you couldn’t be more wrong! Black is limitless, black is ever-changing yet eternal, black is obsequious, purple, and clairvoyant. You just have to know how to wear it correctly.

PS, my Siouxsie shirt is doing just fine, thank you.

Dear Cowboys & Indians,

I don’t even know where to begin. Your Morgan Freeman cover story tremendously disappointed me for all sorts of reasons (most of which I don’t have the time or energy to get in to). So I’ll cut to the main issue: Morgan’s horse, Sable, is deeply sad. I can tell from the photos. Sable looks sad in both of them, so I know it’s not a fluke. Freeman admits that Sable won’t come to him in the pasture… and I think I know why: Sable is heartbroken. I don’t want to speculate as to what Freeman did to break Sable’s heart, but I’ll tell you this much: He did something. Trust me; I know a sad horse when I see one. And I’m sorry, but the fact that you romanticize Freeman’s care of this sad horse both disappoints and outrages me.

Dear Beadwork,

Danielle Fox’s “cranberry relish” Y-shaped necklace looks striking (as does most of Danielle’s stuff!, but it doesn’t look “festive.” Not to me, at least. It looks like something I’d wear to a winter funeral, definitely not a holiday party. I say double the iridescent sequins and maybe cut back on the fire-polished rounds or replace them with more oval chain. Then, we’d be in business!
