Allegro is the name of the new Italian restaurant at Wynn, which opens today. Chef Enzo Febbraro, a native of Naples who was most recently cooking in Washington, D.C., at D’Acqua Ristorante, D’Acqua Café and Forno Italian Oven & Grill, takes over in the space formerly known as Stratta.

"The menu at Allegro is an extension of my rustic, at-home cooking style and I want to produce an authentic, feel-good experience," Febbraro said in a press statement. His fare will touch on Italian-American favorites, with signature dishes including baked lasagna Napoletana, lamb shank osso bucco, risotto pescatora with shrimp, scallops, calamari and clams, and a 14-ounce breaded veal chop parmigiano. Allegro is open for dinner nightly starting at 5:30 p.m. and will provide a late-night menu available until 6 a.m. The restaurant space has become an after-hours hot spot for clubgoers from nearby XS nightclub.

This is the second restaurant revamp at Wynn this year, after Okada's elaborate transformation into Mizumi. With this new change, all evidence of chef Alex Stratta is gone, a name once synonymous with Wynn fine dining. Stratta took over the Italian restaurant, originally dubbed Corsa Cucina, in 2010. His French fine dining venue, Alex, closed in early 2011. Stratta is back on the Strip this month for a five-course benefit wine dinner for the Larry Ruvo Center for Brain Health on Aug. 24 as part of the Venetian/Palazzo month-long "Cibo-Vino" event.
