The Classic Malts of Scotland

Happy Tartan Day (April 6)! And what better way to celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath in 1320 (which asserted Scotland’s sovereignty over English territorial claims, and which influenced America’s Declaration of Independence) than with a wee bit o’ Scotch?

The Classic Malts of Scotland is a selection of six single-malt whiskies, launched and marketed together in 1988, all imported by Diageo and often displayed together in bars and liquor stores. The labels include: Brora, Caol Ila, Clynelish, Cragganmore, Dalwhinnie, Glenkinchie, Lagavulin, Oban, Port Ellen, Singleton of Glendullan and Talisker. The entire complement of Scotches—including some not-to-be-missed drams—can be enjoyed at Craftsteak. Coming especially recommended are the Oban 18-Year-Old (new this year and available only in the U.S.); Talisker, the Distillers Edition; and the Singleton of Glendullan.
