These days, the term “country radio” might as well be changed to “pop-country radio,” since stations dedicated to the genre generally just repeat the same current chart-toppers ad nauseam. Which is why it was refreshing to discover, via a fortuitous flip through the AM dial, Country Legends, KBET 790-AM. The 17-month-old station still has no DJs and runs relatively few commercials, so the listening experience is a steady stream of classics from old-time country stars, ranging from the ’50s through the ’80s.
