Las Vegas is a breeding ground for talent, and a young dancer is taking it to the national level. Bailey Munoz, 19, has been a regular fixture in town for years now, becoming one of the youngest members of the Rock Steady Crew and joining the ensemble at Rose.Rabbit.Lie. when he was barely out of middle school. The b-boy is now competing on So You Think You Can Dance and will perform in the finals tonight, along with three other contestants, for a shot at winning the 2019 title.

Munoz showed an early affinity for dancing, says his mom, Barbara Munoz. He started breakdancing at the age of 9 and was a semifinalist on America’s Got Talent in 2010. He’s also performed on Dancing With the Stars and has toured with Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber.

“Bailey has always been a hard worker,” Barbara says. And despite the accolades and accomplishments, he remains humble. “He is just a nice kid,” his mom adds. Bailey, who attended the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, is currently taking a break from classes at UNLV while he competes.

Tonight’s performance on So You Think You Can Dance is Munoz’s final chance to showcase his talents. And while his specialty is breakdancing, he is also well versed in other genres, which is a big part of the challenge of SYTYCD. “They draw from a hat what genre and choreographer they’re paired with,” Barbara explains. “The only dance they can pick is their solo.”

The results will be announced during a live show on September 16. Regardless of how it turns out, Bailey will be touring with this year’s top 10 SYTYCD contestants, stopping in Las Vegas at The Smith Center on November 22.

Catch Bailey’s performance tonight on Fox at 8 p.m. Viewers will have a chance to vote for their favorites from 7 p.m. tonight until 9 a.m. Tuesday. To vote for Bailey, text Bailey to 21523, or go to facebook.com/soyouthinkyoucandance.
