MGM Resorts International announced today that Sean Christie has been appointed president of events and nightlife, effective Jan. 22.

Christie left Wynn Resorts in December after more than a decade of leadership roles beginning in nightlife and continuing into hotel, casino and restaurant operations. Most recently, he was Wynn’s executive vice president of business development.

In his new role, Christie will have oversight of all owned and leased daylife and nightlife venues and provide strategic direction around special events programming. Prominent Strip nightclubs and dayclubs at MGM properties such as Hakkasan and Wet Republic at MGM Grand and Jewel and Liquid at Aria are operated by Hakkasan Group. An MGM spokesperson said Christie will liaise with those leased outlets.

"We are fortunate to have Sean join us,” MGM Resorts President Bill Hornbuckle said in today’s announcement. “Our commitment to our guests is to consistently offer exciting, entertaining new reasons to visit. With Sean's vast experience in hospitality, we believe his insights and perspectives will enable us to take our offerings to new levels well into the future.”

Christie moved to Las Vegas from his native Boston in 2000 to help open the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. After some time as an executive with the Light Group, he moved on to Wynn and Encore, where he founded the Las Vegas Nightlife Group and opened Blush Lounge, Surrender Nightclub, Encore Beach Club and Andrea’s restaurant before being promoted as a hotel and casino executive.

"I'm excited by the opportunity to work with Bill and the entire MGM Resorts team,” Christie said in the announcement. “With projects underway around the globe, MGM Resorts sets the standard for entertainment and hospitality. I look forward to being part of a team that is so focused on continually reimagining and reinventing the visitor experience."
