Cooler temperatures have arrived, but the desire to activate outdoor venues in Las Vegas was already stronger than ever, thanks to that whole COVID thing. As fall weather sets in, expect to see a lot more of developments like the one opening tonight at Red Rock Resort in Summerlin.
It’s called Crimson at Sundown, and it’s using the small but swanky poolside patio attached to the private event space originally known as Cherry when the resort opened in 2006. The outdoor lounge experience will be open Fridays and Saturdays starting at 7 p.m., offering music, cocktails and light bites.
“Everyone can agree this is some of the best weather we experience all year, so it’s the perfect time for some outdoor socializing,” says Joe Yalda, vice president of guest experience at Red Rock. He characterizes Crimson at Sundown not as a nightlife experience but definitely fun, “the perfect setting under bistro lights for a good social experience or after-dinner spot for a quick cocktail.”
Happy hour runs from 7 to 8 p.m., featuring half-priced buckets of beer and bottles of Prosecco and rosé. Signature cocktail offerings include the Tropical Margarita, Strawberry Basil Punch and Wildflower Sangria, as well as POPtails featuring handmade spiked popsicles made from fresh ingredients floating in a glass of sparkling rosé, Prosecco or Red Bull.
Crimson at Sundown also has video games. Classic coin-operated arcade games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong add to the fun; Yalda says he is particularly excited to play Missile Command.
The outdoor Crimson space has been operating as a 21-and-over pool setup during summer weekends, but the indoor club space has been inactive lately, formerly reserved for private or corporate events. Rande Gerber originally opened Cherry there as an extension of his Whisky Sky at Green Valley Ranch Resort, but Station Casinos assumed control of the club a few years later and it closed in 2010. It reopened inconsistently for holiday weekends and other special events until it was rebranded as Crimson.
Crimson at Sundown is complimentary for open seating, but space is limited and reservations are recommended, and guests are required to order food. For more information or reservations, call 702-797-7877.
