One of the best-known and longest-lasting names in Las Vegas nightlife is no more. Light Nightclub at Mandalay Bay on has closed permanently, according to a news release.

Clique Hospitality founder Andy Masi also co-founded the Light Group in Las Vegas in 2001 when the original Light Nightclub opened at Bellagio and became one of the most successful and influential nightspots across the country. The second iteration of the club opened at Mandalay Bay in 2013 in the space formerly occupied by Rumjungle near the megaresort’s parking garage.

Light was the last major nightclub on the Strip to reopen after the pandemic shutdown two years ago, finally coming back to life in February of this year. Employees are expected to be distributed to the company’s sister venue, Daylight Beach Club, which continues seasonal operations through October 16. The statement also noted Daylight will re-open per usual in spring 2023.

Clique operates several other venues in the Vegas Valley including the Barbershop Cuts & Cocktails and Clique Lounge at the Cosmopolitan, Gatsby’s Cocktail Lounge at Resorts World, and the Borracha and Bottiglia restaurants at Green Valley Ranch Resort. The company also is developing the upcoming Proper Eats food hall at Aria.
