Culinary Dropout’s new brunch cocktail, the Queen Lady Hot Mess

All hail the Queen Lady Hot Mess. If you’re of the mind-set that brunch is a fabulous excuse to day drink, Culinary Dropout has a cocktail for you. The Hard Rock restaurant has tweaked the classic mimosa with fresh-pressed pineapple and lemon juices and a boozy kick of Stoli Citros vodka. The tang of fresh orange and pineapple marries beautifully with the tart citrus elements, simple syrup adding just enough sweet to balance the sour and the sparkling wine providing a crisp finish.

Mat Snapp, beverage manager for Fox Restaurant Concepts, calls Dropout’s new brunch libation “a hangover cure and a morning jumpstart all rolled into one … to return a guest to her former status as ‘Queen Lady’ or lovingly dispatch her on her path to ‘Hot Mess.’”

Halfway finished with my schooner glass, I feel that boozy kick and am dangerously close to leaving the Hard Rock as the latter. God save the Queen, indeed.

Ingredients:

2 oz. lemon juice

1 ½ oz. simple syrup

2 oz. pineapple juice

2 oz. orange juice

3 oz. Stoli Citros

4 oz. sparkling white wine

mint sprig, orange wheel and pineapple slice (garnish)

Method: Combine all ingredients except sparkling wine, shake and pour into schooner glass. Top with sparkling wine and garnishes.
