Horror movies. Ouija Boards. Girl talk. On October 17, Marquee hosted its first annual Sleepover, a pajama-clad party with music from DJ Eric D-Lux. The sleepy soiree promised open bar for ladies in lingerie until 11 p.m. and encouraged guests to wear their most colorful sleepwear. Sadly, I slept through it ... and not in lingerie. Because here’s the thing guys don’t really want to know: No one has ever worn a bustier to a slumber party.

This coming week we’re going to party like it’s Lola’s birthday. The Louisiana kitchen celebrates two years in the Arts District with an October 22 bash from 3-11 p.m. and an Abita Springs beer pairing dinner on October 25. The five-courser will match Lola’s favorites like charbroiled oysters and pecan-crusted trout to beers including Turbodog and Purple Haze from the Louisiana-based brewery. Call 227-5652 to purchase $50 tickets to the dinner.

It’s that magical time of year again, when clubbers rake in cash for donning costumes that take months to create. Mark your calendar for October 26 and one of the first contests, Ghostbar’s Dub Step Dead Celeb night. A $1,500 prize will go to the best getup, so try to steer clear of obvious ideas like Amy Winehouse, Steve Jobs and Osama Bin Laden. We’re pulling for the doctor of death himself, Jack Kevorkian.

Victory is Vegas’ ... again. On October 14, the Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo celebrated its grand opening with one colossal, Guinness Record-winning cocktail—an 8,500-gallon margarita. The drink, dubbed Lucky Rita, took an estimated 300 hours to create and beat out the previous record holder for largest cocktail—a margarita mixed last October 15 (also right here in Vegas, at Ricardo’s Mexican restaurant), which clocked in at 7,627 gallons. Guests can sample Rita, with $5 for each gallon sold going to charity, until October 23.
