Nightlife News & Notes: Bound at Cromwell, a growler promo at Banger and more

Bound’s “Maestro” of mixology, Salvatore Calabrese

File this one under sign of the times: Blend DJ Institute celebrated its grand opening May 31 on Fort Apache Road, giving aspiring Vegas DJs a reason to leave their bedrooms and hone their craft in public with classes in DJing, Ableton, FL Studio and Logic Pro X staffed by scene vets like Presto One and Jose 2 Hype.

Need a reason to check out the Cromwell? We’ll give you two: 1. Bound, the casino’s super-swank lobby bar with a cocktail menu by the “Maestro” of mixology, Salvatore Calabrese. Pick from a list that includes classic libations; Calabrese signatures (like the perfectly balanced, deviously named Breakfast Martini); Champagne cocktails and Vegas originals, espresso-infused drinks that will keep you buzzing at least until afterhours. And 2. new Tuesday night rooftop pool party Drai’s Yacht Club, where swimming is encouraged and industry locals get in free (it’s $40 men and $20 women for everyone else). The U.S.S. Drai’s sets sail June 10; don’t forget your boat shoes.

If you’ve heard the backstory of Banger Brewing, the brewery’s new, camping-friendly metal growlers should come as no surprise: The five co-owners first sipped on their home-brewed suds during camping trips. The sleek, 2-liter vessels are now available for purchase and fills, the latter of which are two-for-one during Banger’s Growler Tuesdays promo. Cheers!
