U2 will open its Las Vegas residency and perform the first shows at the $2 billion Sphere on September 29 and 30 and October 5, 7 and 8.

The long-awaited dates were announced this morning by Sphere Entertainment Co. and Live Nation, and tickets will be available through a presale on April 27 and, if they remain available, a general on-sale on April 28. Fans can register now for tickets through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program at u2.ticketmaster.com/.

Tickets start at $140 including taxes and fees. Today’s announcement states that, “The larger capacity at Sphere allows for 60% of tickets to be priced under $300, and there will also be a limited number of premium priced tickets per show.” General admission floor tickets will be restricted from transfer and may only be resold at the original purchase price.

Each U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere performance will offer 50 tickets on an exclusive VIP riser, and sales of those tickets will benefit RED, the organization co-founded by Bono in 2006 to fight AIDS.

U2 officially confirmed its Las Vegas residency earlier this year with a commercial broadcast during the Super Bowl. In a recent interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Bono and The Edge provided a sneak peek tour of the Sphere, currently under construction just behind Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip.

“The idea behind U2 is always to make the worst seat of the house, the best of the house. This changes the whole dynamic on that,” Bono said. “Over playing a theater, most music venues are sports venues. They're stadiums, they're arenas. They're built for sports. They're not built for music, they're not built for art. So this building was built for immersive experiences in cinema and performance.”
