Tattooed for free cocktails: A ‘lifetime’ of anything carries a heavy caveat

Image
Get a tattoo of Commonwealth’s mascot, the peafowl, and enjoy a “lifetime” of free Sailor Jerry Airstream cocktails.

If you like peacock feathers, Fremont East and Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, oh boy are you in luck. Commonwealth, the newish pre-Prohibition-inspired drinkery on Fremont and Sixth, is offering a lifetime’s supply of free Sailor Jerry cocktails to anyone willing to get a feather of the bar’s mascot, the peafowl, tattooed on their person.

My advice: Don’t do it. Remember what happened when the Sahara offered a “lifetime” of free roller coaster rides to anyone who could down a six-pound burrito in 90 minutes? Well, let me remind you: Sahara closed—and that place was a Vegas institution. And that six-pound tummy bomb? It wasn’t quite as permanent as a tat, either.

So, don’t go under the gun for a few free drinks. Although, if you already have a peacock feather tattoo, you might as well drop by Commonwealth and put it to good use ... because let’s be real: It’s not winning you points anywhere else in life.
