The Vegas sequel to Shake Shack is on its way. After the wildly popular East Coast burger chain made its debut on the Strip at New York-New York in December, it was announced today that a second Shack will open in 2016 at Downtown Summerlin. It’s a bit of a surprise considering creator Danny Meyer kept this news to himself when we spoke to him earlier this year, not to mention the fact that the Downtown Summerlin mega-complex already has Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews and Ribs and Burgers on its dining roster. Then again, doesn’t it seem like a perfect fit?

Made L.V. at Tivoli Village will host guest chef Michael Van Staden and New Belgium Brewery for a special dinner pairing on April 8 at 6:30 p.m. Passed appetizers and a three-course meal will include oxtail spring rolls, “Pad Thai” pig ears, Moroccan chicken tagine and more paired with New Belgium beers. The cost is $39 and reservations can be made by calling 702-722-2000.

MRKT Sea & Land at Aliante Casino will highlight local producers with a wine pairing dinner featuring Justin Vineyards on April 22 at 6:30 p.m. Dishes will include caviar in Yukon Gold potato nest, a salad featuring ingredients from the steakhouse’s herb and vegetable garden and nearby Gilcrease Orchard, and crispy duck with beluga lentils. The cost is $100 and reservations can be made by calling 702-692-7265.

The Monte Carlo’s “Booze & Bites” dinners series continues on April 22 at 6:30 p.m. with a wine pairing dinner at Brand Steakhouse sponsored by Terlato Wines. Grilled octopus, foie gras with pickled apricots and caramelized figs, 60-day dry-aged Kobe beef and duck ravioli are on the menu. The cost is $75 and reservations can be made by calling 702-730-7010.

White Castle's CraveMobile will return to this year's Foodie Fest, set for the Rio.

Panevino launches a new quarterly wine dinner series on April 23 with a four-course chef’s tasting menu showcasing cuisine from Northern Italy and wine from the same region. The menu will include timbale of polenta with porcini mushrooms and Taleggio cheese, risotto with homemade sausage and black truffle, and beef rolled with prosciutto and vegetable and mushroom ragout. The cost is $85 and reservations can be made by calling 702-222-2400.

Red Dragon event company’s annual Great American Foodie Fest, formerly known as Las Vegas Foodie Fest, returns with a new location this year—the parking lot at the Rio. As always, Foodie Fest, April 30-May 3, will feature more than 50 food trucks from across the country along with a number of “celebrity trucks” sponsored by the Food Network, History Channel, Cooking Channel and Travel Channel. Live DJs, carnival rides, games and eating competitions are part of the lineup, too. Admission starts at $8 per day or $11 for a weekend pass. For more info, visit greatamericanfoodiefest.com.
