Cocktail of the Week: Boulevardier

Southern Wine & Spirits

The Boulevardier is like the Negroni’s long lost brother. Using bourbon instead of gin, it is darker, richer and more robust while maintaining the same complex and bittersweet flavors of vermouth and Campari. This cocktail dates to the 1920s, but after waning in popularity, it recently experienced a revival in bars across the country — and for good reason.

Ingredients

1 oz Wild Turkey 101 Straight Bourbon Whiskey

1 oz Campari

1 oz Cinzano 1757 sweet vermouth

Orange slice for garnish

Method

Stir the ingredients with ice in a mixing glass, then strain over an ice-filled rocks glass. Or serve straight up in a cocktail martini glass. Garnish with an orange slice, twisted to release its citrus oils.
