Vegas needs more doughnuts. In foodie cities across the country, interesting little doughnut shops are popping up with unique, edgy flavor combinations. Seems like we’re still stuck on cupcakes here. Perhaps Pink Box will help ignite a doughnut revolution. The new west-side store serves up some interesting flavors, like cake doughnuts made with blueberries or sweet potato, balanced out with the basics. It can get a little crazy, too. Try a maple-bacon bar possibly inspired by Portland’s famous Voodoo Doughnut, or a spicy-sweet chipotle-caramel glaze on a light, fluffy raised doughnut. Then there’s the Nutty Pig, overwhelming in every way: a Bavarian cream-filled delight topped with maple icing, a chewy date, bacon, almonds, blue cheese and a touch of balsamic glaze. If one bite catches even half of those ingredients, you’re in for a memorable, sweet, bizarre breakfast. Is Vegas ready for a doughnut like this?
