Clique Hospitality to open Caspian’s lounge in the former Cleopatra’s Barge

Fixed at the heart of the Caesars Palace casino since 1970, Cleopatra’s Barge was definitely one of the last jewels of its era, a must-visit for those who appreciate what Las Vegas used to be. It hosted many star entertainers in its tenure, including the return of Wayne Newton just before it shuttered for good in 2020, and the golden statue stretching off the tip of the barge (yes, there was an actual boat built in the lounge, with actual water below it) famously beckoned casino passersby to enter and enjoy. It was one of one.

The essential lounge space is about to begin a new life as Caspian’s, a place for cocktails, caviar, Champagne and, thankfully, live music. Clique Hospitality operates some of our favorite Vegas venues, like the rockin’ Barbershop speakeasy at the Cosmopolitan and the new Easy’s lounge at Aria, so we trust these guys will create a fitting replacement for the Barge.

The design is “an homage to Art Deco’s Parisian roots” with blue velvet curtains, oversized couches and a dramatic gold chandelier—sounds pretty Vegasy. Set to open this spring, Caspian’s could prove that you don’t have to be old to be old school. It only takes a little glimmer and glamor from the past to get our attention.
