As We See It

What does your zip code say about you?

I'm currently an American dreamer, but I used to be a bright young professional, and before that an affluent retiree and before that, a soccer mom. It's not that I've had past lives, but instead several zip codes.

Zip Code Lookup, a website created by Esri mapping, reveals what marketers know about us based on where we live. By blending Census and marketing data, the company identified 67 American lifestyles, ranging from young to old, rich to poor, rural to urban.

The results seem accurate, with obvious outliers. Though I don’t belong to a young, foreign-born family in a multi-generational household, the breakdown is still amusing.

“Renting movies, watching TV and playing video games provide entertainment at home,” the summary reads. “For special treats, we spend the day at a theme park or zoo.”

My question is: What zoo?

Type in your zip code here.
