As We See It

Attention thirsty Democrats! Score a free beer (or four!) by caucusing this Saturday

Reward yourself for being an engaged citizen with a free beer … or four. Hops for Democracy, a local voter-awareness initiative, hopes to nudge thirsty Democrats to caucus this Saturday with promises of free brews and a Downtown bar crawl.

On February 20, the night of Nevada’s Democratic caucus, the Bunkhouse Saloon, Atomic Liquors, the Griffin and Oddfellows will each offer one free beer to caucus-goers with proof of participation (just snap a pic of your preference card, which will be provided at caucus sites). Bar-crawl check-in takes place at the Bunkhouse from 8 to 9 p.m.

“The idea came about hungover, eating Mexican food in bed with [my friend] Megan Trivette while watching the Dem debates,” organizer Desirae Wingerter says. “We were feelin’ the Bern even more so than usual and were brainstorming about how to get our friends and community to be involved and actually go to caucus. In my work, I’m constantly thinking about what motivates and reinforces behavior. Beer. Beer as reinforcement!”
