The number of people who will be needing medical care as a result of the coronavirus pandemic is expected to rise and rise rapidly. While there is a lot of coverage on the shortage of ventilators and ICU beds, Valley hospitals are facing another kind of crisis: a blood shortage due to the spate of blood drive cancellations as a result of the outbreak.
Shiraz Las Vegas, chef Jainine Jaffer’s Mediterranean and Indian restaurant, is teaming up with Vitalant, a nonprofit medical transfusion organization, to encourage healthy individuals to donate lifesaving blood. The blood drive will take place on Friday, March 20 from 2-6 p.m, and Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Shiraz parking lot, located on 2575 S. Decatur Blvd.
Walk-ins are welcome, but donors can also schedule an appointment at bloodhero.com (enter sponsor code SHIRAZ) or by calling Vitalant at 877-258-4825. Remember to eat a good meal before your donation and bring a photo I.D.
