Dining News & Notes: Della’s Kitchen is coming and King’s has lots of oysters

Satiate your oyster cravings at King’s Fish House.

Delano Las Vegas, the hotel-within-a-hotel opening September 1 at Mandalay Bay, will offer breakfast and lunch at the “historic farmhouse meets urban eatery” Della’s Kitchen. Menu items will include fresh-pressed juices, banana-berry oatmeal, blue crab or smoked pork Benedicts, carne asada huevos rancheros, duck panini, steak frites and more. Herbs and other veggie goodness from Delano’s own local greenhouse will show up in different dishes at Della’s.

Showboy Bakeshop in Anthem will host its first “Broadway Bake Sale” from noon to 6 p.m. on August 30, with celebrity guests like Jai Rodriguez and Angel Porrino working the counter and selling goodies to raise money and awareness for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Newly opened at Tahiti Village—the Somerpointe Resorts vacation ownership property south of the Strip—is 17° South, a restaurant open to the public (and not just resort guests) every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. UNLV graduate/chef John Gremo’s menu includes specialty pizzas and burgers, comfort food favorites like fish and chips and spaghetti and meatballs, and “bits and bites” such as barbecued ribs, crab cakes and mac and cheese with ham.

Sammy’s Restaurant & Bar is partnering with Simi Winery.

King’s Fish House at the District at Green Valley Ranch is kicking off oyster season with a massive assortment of briny bivalves, more than 60 different varieties from the United States and Canada to be served through April. (The raw bar will offer up to 12 different oysters daily.) Diners can sample Kumamotos, Atlantic or Pacific oysters, European Flats and more, every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Sammy’s Restaurant & Bar in Green Valley will host the sixth installment of Sammy’s Social Club starting at 7 p.m. August 27 featuring a four-course dinner paired with wines from Simi Winery in Sonoma County. Dishes include grilled shrimp Caesar salad, duck quesadilla and honey cheese pizza. The price is $60 and reservations can be made by calling 702-567-4000.

Delmonico Steakhouse at Venetian is teaming up with Kosta Browne Winery for a New Orleans-flavored wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. September 4. The menu will include Alaskan king crab with white truffle sweet corn foam, rabbit and foie gras fricassee with sage dumpling and fresh black truffles, and a chocolate génoise cake with raspberry coulis. The price is $195 and reservations can be made by calling 702-414-3737.
