No matter if you frequented nightclubs or not, it’s impossible to deny the impact Adam Goldstein had on the DJ world. Better known as DJ AM, the turntabilist first came to the attention of the music world when working with the band Crazy Town. But he made his mark as one of the most noted celebrity DJs around the globe.

AM catered to the masses and kept them moving on the dance floor with his brand of hip-hop and popular mash-ups while cleverly sneaking in underground tracks when you weren’t looking. He may have been one of the most recognizable faces in DJing, and exposure to the MTV generation only fueled his popularity. By teaming up with Blink 182’s Travis Barker, AM garnered an even larger fan base. In Las Vegas, his clout spanned from co-ownership of the mega-club LAX to residencies at Body English, Pure and, finally, Rain.

Even if you weren’t a fan of the music he played, if you saw him live you couldn’t deny his mastery of the ones and twos. His dizzying mixing ability and stellar scratching could leave even the most brutal critics awestruck, as his hands flew between mixer and turntables for lighting-speed beat juggles and scratches. With his passing, we’ve truly lost a tour de force.
