Open letter to my favorite radio station

Dear 107.9-FM: You’re airing promos asking listeners what changes they’d like to hear, and I do have a suggestion: that you say “fewer commercials” instead of “less commercials.” I mean, please; my kids are listening.

There’s more: I don’t mind the commercials, actually; you gotta do business. But between them, how about a tad more musical adventurousness? By which I do not mean any combination of the words “Red,” “Hot,” “Chili” and “Peppers.” Something closer to the margins, something wild that’ll crack the glaze most radio coats me in. There are times when I can’t tell if I’m listening to you or Mix, and I offer that as a caution, not an insult. I dunno, what if, for 15 minutes each hour, you pretend you’re programming for a Seattle-like audience? Who knows, you might cultivate one. And there are some fine local indie bands needing more airplay ...

Final suggestion: No Kid Rock. Can’t budge on this one. –Scott Dickensheets, frequent listener
