Local Japanese izakaya stalwart Aburiya Raku has announced the upcoming opening of a Los Angeles location in early September. The roughly 60-seat West Hollywood spot—a former soba restaurant (Yabu) on La Cienega Boulevard—means Southern Californians won’t need to trek across the desert for a taste of Mitsuo Endo’s famed agedashi tofu or beef tendon robata. As for us Las Vegans, maybe, just maybe it’ll be a little easier to get a seat in ours. One can only hope. –Jim Begley

Located on the second floor of Andre’s at the Monte Carlo, Andre’s Cigar Lounge and Culinary Library houses chef André Rochat’s personal collection of cookbooks amassed over his more than 55 years in the business. Now there’s a menu of cookbook-inspired snacks available there, including pickled vegetables, lamb sausage, caponata and more. The small plates are $10 and can be paired with cocktails and cigars by request.

Plenty of Vegas restaurants offer special occasion menus, but this one is tough to describe. Crush at MGM Grand is offering a $1,000 four-course “Forgive Me” menu for those with guilty consciences, or at least that’s we think it’s about. The apologetic menu consists of chilled o-toro (tuna belly) with white truffles, sea bass with Beluga caviar, Kobe ribeye with spiny lobster tail, and dessert of Dom Pérignon Rosé and gold leaf-topped chocolate strawberries. If that doesn’t work, maybe you’re screwed. –Brock Radke
