Nightlife News & Notes: Vanilla Ice coming to LAX and more

We told you Throwback Thursdays at LAX was about to really throw it back, and here it is: Vanilla Ice will perform at the Luxor nightclub on January 21 to kick off the refashioned weekly event, which will feature “iconic artists from the ‘80s and ‘90s every other week in 2016,” according to a recent announcement. We’re estimating these bookings will stick to Top 40, hip-hop and R&B, which should go a long way in accomplishing LAX’s goal of becoming a Strip club the locals love.

The porn takeover is almost upon us. The annual AVN Adult Entertainment Expo begins January 20 (with the AVN Awards show happening on January 23), and lots of nightclub afterparty plans are beginning to pile up. Here’s one venue to watch: Chateau nightclub and rooftop at Paris Las Vegas will host starlet Eva Lovia kicking off the party on January 20, and the Fleshlight sex-toy company will host the AVN Awards show afterparty there January 23, featuring adult film actresses Teagan Presley, Kayden Kross, Kaylani Lei and Alexis Monroe.

Jewel at Aria by the Hakkasan Group is set to open this spring, which means it’s time to staff up. A special hiring and interview event is going down for Jewel and other Hakkasan venues January 11-15 from noon to 4 p.m. at Hakkasan at MGM Grand; and January 11-13 and 18-20 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at Omnia at Caesars Palace. Drai’s Beach Club at the Cromwell is also hiring for the 2016 season with a job fair January 14-16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dress business casual and prepare to be interviewed. You’ll be great, really. Don’t worry about it.
