Quick Bites: UNLVino, Nacho Daddy, Café Lola and more Vegas food news

Nacho Daddy is opening a new restaurant location this week where it all started, in Henderson. The store at 3561 St. Rose Parkway makes its debut on March 16 and will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Nacho Daddy has three other bar-restaurants on the Strip, Downtown and in the Summerlin area, along with restaurants in Duluth, Georgia, and Salt Lake City.

Hockey-inspired treat shop Pucks Cookies & Treats is set to open at the District at Green Valley Ranch this week on March 18, with a grand opening celebration on March 19 from 1-4 p.m. featuring a live DJ, roller dancers and other entertainers, giveaways and a cookie eating contest. All treats will be 15% off both days. Serving fresh-baked goodies with premium ingredients and dough mixed in house, Pucks is located next to Shake Shack and will be open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Toasted Gastrobrunch is set to open its second location in the Arroyo Market Square shopping center (near the southern Beltway and Rainbow) on April 1, bringing its playful brunch-all-the-time menu to a new neighborhood in Las Vegas. Like its original spot on West Flamingo, the new Toasted will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Café Lola is planning to open a fourth location on the Las Vegas Strip at the Forum Shops at Caesars this summer. The European-inspired café known for its décor, Champagne selection and delectable menu will create a new flagship location near the Festival Court area, adjacent to Agent Provocateur and Tourneau.

Saffron the Vegetarian Eatery is currently serving a special pairing of signature items in support of the Chai Lai Orchid, an elephant sanctuary that combats exploitation and trafficking by providing homes, education and employment to marginalized women. Through March 27, diners can experience the Cha Lai Money Bags, a vegan dish of lightly fried dumplings filled with mushrooms, spinach, scallions, shallots and ginger over house-made green curry; and the Blue Elephant Martini cocktail made with Malibu rum, blue curacao, simple syrup, lemon juice and an edible viola flower; with proceeds benefitting the sanctuary. Saffron is located at 3545 S. Decatur Boulevard and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 until 10 p.m.

UNLVino is set to return this month with a different series of culinary events in partnership with Southern Glazer’s Wine, Spirits & Beer of Nevada and the UNLV William F. Harrah College of Hospitality. Coming back for its 48th year after a two-year hiatus, the popular event transforms into UNLVino Presents, a festival of sorts including: a four-course pairing dinner with Chimney Rock Wines and chef Vincent Pouessel at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris Las Vegas on March 28; a four-course pairing dinner with Far Niente Winery and chef Oscar Amador at Anima on April 11; and the Grand Tasting, a curated tasting menu from five different local restaurants served by students for 500 guests at UNLV’s Hospitality Hall on May 7. Tickets for the dinners are $250 and tickets for the Grand Tasting are $200 in advance or $250 on the night of the event, and more information and tickets are available at unlvino.com.

Honey Salt has a special Farm Table Dinner planned for Women’s History Month. The neighborhood favorite welcomes Brezza and Bar Zazu executive chef Nicole Brisson on March 28 at 6 p.m. for a dinner filled with a variety of female-owned products, including Regiis Ova Caviar, Pomp & Whimsy Gin, Frey Ranch Distillery Bourbon, Tequila Casa Dragones and Pop N Pies. Guests will leave with handcrafted treats created by Buddy V’s pastry chef Cindy Soliz and Honey Salt’s Andrea Mineshima. Tickets are $69 and available at honeysalt.com, with a portion of proceeds going to the Women’s Hospitality Initiative.
