Some of the city’s favorite chefs opened new restaurant projects in the past week. Alex Stratta has debuted Salt & Pepper, a southern-food eatery, in place of his recently shuttered tapas restaurant at Tivoli Village. Gen Mizoguchi, who originally landed in Las Vegas with the acclaimed Kabuto, has opened Yui Edomae Sushi on Arville near Spring Mountain. And Marc Sgrizzi, who formerly operated Parma, just opened Chef Marc’s Trattoria at Sahara and Durango.

Ferraro’s Taste and Learn series returns on November 21 from 4 to 6 p.m., with the spotlight on the Pio Cesare winery, known as one of the first producers in the Piedmont area. Four different wines will be paired with unique dishes for $65. Reservations can be made at 702-364-5300.

Elizabeth Blau.

Elizabeth Blau is already a star in the local dining scene. Now she’s going to be on TV. The restaurateur will be an “investor” on CNBC’s Restaurant Startup, joining Joe Bastianich and Tim Love for three episodes to hear contestants pitch their food ideas. The new season begins January 6. Meanwhile, special events are planned for Blau’s local restaurants: Made L.V. at Tivoli Village will host Rick Moonen for its next guest chef series dinner on December 3 at 6:30 p.m. ($39, made-lv.com); and Honey Salt launches its annual Hanukkah menu December 6-14, including matzo ball soup ($9), potato latkes ($11) and Grandma Rose’s slow-roasted brisket ($29).

Stripsteak at Mandalay Bay will host a Glenfiddich pairing dinner on December 1 at 7 p.m., four courses for $125. Need a teaser taste? How about Hudson Valley foie gras with seared diver scallop and lentil ragout with Glenfiddich 15-year Solera Reserve? Reservations can be made at 702-632-7200.

Crave American Kitchen & Sushi Bar at Downtown Summerlin is hosting a wine pairing dinner with reds from Michael David Winery on December 3 at 6:30 p.m., four courses for $75 with proceeds benefitting Aid for AIDS of Nevada. Reservations can be made at afanlv.org.

Yard House restaurants across the country will be offering a special limited-release beer from Rogue Brewery, the Spruce Tip IPA. It’ll get tapped on December 7. There are Yard Houses in Las Vegas at Town Square, Red Rock Resort and the Linq Promenade.
