André Rochat has long been one of the cornerstones of the Las Vegas culinary landscape, serving world-class cuisine from the modest Downtown restaurant he opened in 1980 long before celebrity chefs conquered the Strip. Now, the extension of that original restaurant, Andre’s at Monte Carlo, will close for good in early October. A statement from the company’s spokesperson notes: “Management will announce the next chapter for Andre’s shortly. We have enjoyed a fortuitous relationship with MGM Resorts International since Andre’s opened in 1997. We look forward to the future and thank our colleagues and community for their ongoing support and patronage.” No change is planned at this time for Rochat’s other restaurant, Alizé at the Palms; however, the Palms is in a state of transition, as it was recently purchased by Station Casinos.
A new Benihana restaurant opens today at the Fashion Show mall on the Strip. The 7,600-square-foot restaurant features a sushi bar, cocktail lounge, outdoor patio and dining area in addition to 18 teppanyaki tables. It’s open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Flavor Flav is cooking something up on the Strip. As of August 17, Flav’s fried chicken—once served at his short-lived House of Flavor restaurant on Maryland Parkway—will be on the menu at Rockhouse at Venetian. The chicken will be available in 10-piece ($13.99) and 24-piece ($24.99) sizes.
Andiron Steak & Sea at Downtown Summerlin will host a special dinner featuring Berkshire pork from Alpine Ranch in Fallon on August 25 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $59 with optional wine pairing for an additional $29; reservations can be made online at andironsteak.com.
