The Lost City Museum

The Lost City Museum in Overton is one of seven Nevada state museums that protect and preserve our natural and cultural heritage. From ancestral Native American baskets to historic farm equipment, the museum has worked diligently for more than half a century to safeguard treasured relics. With the award of a $10,000 grant this month from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services’ Museums for America program, Lost City will be able to purchase equipment to facilitate its preservation process—even in the desert’s extreme climate. This equipment includes data loggers to record temperature and humidity fluctuations and a cabinet with a controlled micro-climate for sensitive artifacts. The museum was selected from a pool of 548 applicants for the competitive grant program, which awarded $21 million nationwide.
