Building the Hoover Dam took more than a heroic effort, it also took a railroad. The Boulder Branch Line, built in 1931, lives on as the Boulder City Railroad’s excursion train – a scenic 45-minute, seven-mile roundtrip rail ride, located less than 30 minutes from Las Vegas. The museum is a showcase of the regional railroad lines that built Hoover Dam and other indelible parts of Southern Nevada. Visitors can experience railroading through train rides, exhibits, and learning opportunities.
Pro tip: A 7.5” gauge steam railroad runs September through May.
