Alterna-rock vets The Flaming Lips have long owned a reputation as one of the most visually spectacular bands around, but judging from this excerpt of a recent interview with frontman Wayne Coyne, perhaps the group has been staring at its own effects a bit too long:
“I’ve heard we are playing the pool, but I don’t know if it is a venue or a pool ... The people who are familiar with Vegas who I tell we are playing at the pool say, ‘Where the f--k are you playing?’ This is a weird gig. I think you have to buy an 18 pack of beer [to get in]. It wasn’t even a stop on our tour until recently. We found this way to do it, but I don’t know what to expect.”
Um, okay, Wayne ... we’re with ya ... sort of.
