The Lucky Pear

By Steve Dorsey of the Rio

Image

When the Pear Bureau of the Northwest put out a call for pear recipes and cocktails,  decorated Vegas flair bartender and molecular mixologist Steve Dorsey (2008 FBA Blue Blazer mixology champion) answered that call with his submission, The Lucky Pear, now featured on Pearpanache.com along with “pearcasts” and other pear-aphernalia.

To assemble, peel, core (tip: use a melon-baller) and chop the pear. Muddle well in a mixing glass. Add two to three ice cubes and the remaining ingredients. Shake well, strain into a chilled glass and garnish.

Ingredients:

1 chilled, ripe pear

Juice of 1 lemon

1.25 oz. vanilla-flavored vodka, chilled

1 oz. rock candy syrup

0.5 oz. Cointreau

1 dash orange bitters

Salted red pear chips
